Libya has announced the total closure of land and airports with Tunisia for the period of one week due to the spread of the mutated Indian strain of the coronavirus in Tunisia.

This decision was announced in a press briefing by the spokesman for the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Hammouda, who explained that the closure of the borders with neighbouring Tunisia began at midnight on Thursday, July 8.

With regards to the situation of Libyans stranded in Tunisia, Hammouda declared that the Libyan State, through its consulate in Tunisia, would take care of them, until their safe return to their homeland is facilitated.
