The Health Care Office in Bani Walid Municipality confirmed that it had recorded 290 cases of leishmaniasis in the city.

Director of the Office Ayman al-Hawadi said that the disease has become a nightmare for residents in Bani Walid, especially in the absence of medical treatment, calling on the competent authorities to save the city from a health disaster that could emanate from the spreading of the disease.

For his part, the Director of the Department of Health Services Sami al-Wadani urged the Ministry of Health, the National Centre for Communicable Diseases, and the Health Committee of the Municipal Council to take responsibility for this issue and provide prompt treatment to avoid increasing numbers of infected people.
