Italy has expressed its readiness to help Libya to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, as announced by its Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio in a statement as a subsidiary of the European House –Ambrosetti Forum on Friday.

Di Maio indicated that he contacted the Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj, during his recent visit to Tripoli, pledging that Italy was prepared to provide every necessity to assist in containment of the COVID-19 during this present health crisis.

He also mentioned that he considered that the Coronavirus pandemic contributed to the strong ties between both countries, particularly due to the fact that Libya selflessly provided Italy with qualified doctors at the worst stages of the outbreak of the virus in Italy at a critical time.
