The head of Tripoli branch of Al-Hasawna Water System of the Man-Made River, Mohammed Hasan, said that the extended power cuts during the past period resulted in the decrease of water flow to the capital and its environs, stressing that water levels will return to normal by next Tuesday.

Al-Hasan added that the collapse of the power network during the past two days caused a complete halt to the water pumping process from the well fields, which led to the leaking of large quantities of water from the main transmitting lines.

He also clarified that the administration of the Man-Made River agreed with the General Electricity Company (GECOL) to recharge the area comprising the wells with electricity for about 70 continues hours so that the lines could restore its full pumping capacity to deliver water to all areas of the capital.
