The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has appealed to all cities to respond to the load shedding process adopted by the company, in view of the special circumstances the western region is going through, following the recent clashes.

The company also called on citizens to take into account the exceptional situation experienced by the electrical network and to limit the use of electrical appliances as much as possible.

Angry citizens stormed into the 220 switching stations and forced the operators to run the electric current by force, as was the case in the areas fed by the stations in Zawiya city and west of Tripoli.

The main energy transmission stations of the public power network have been severely damaged as a result of the latest armed clashes in Tripoli.
