Former Prime Minister of the Gaddafi regime, Abu Zaid Dorda, has died in Cairo aged 77.

Dorda was Gaddafi’s prime minister from October 1990 to January 1994. From 1997 to 2003, he was the country’s representative to the United Nations and ended his career as the head of external intelligence before the uprising in 2011.

He was arrested on 11 September 2011 and sentenced to death in 2015 on charges of killing protesters against Gaddafi. He was released in February 2019 for health reasons and immediately left for Tunisia.
