European Union Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Virginie Battu-Henriksson has confirmed the EU's intention to play a strong role in achieving a permanent ceasefire and paving the way for a political solution in Libya.

The EU official added that the Berlin Conference will be a good opportunity to move forward with the political process, emphasizing the EU's readiness to use all necessary tools and resources that would ensure the full implementation of the conference outcomes.

The European Council's head, Charles Michel, the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen and the Union's High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell have all confirmed that their participation in the Berlin conference set to take place Sunday.
