The head of the Information Office, of the General Directorate of the Man Made River Project, Tawfiq Shuaihdi, confirmed that the sub-power station in the western field at the site of Hasawneh was attacked and vandalized by an unknown group.
Shuaihdi explained to the Libyan Press Agency (LANA) that the attack resulted in the burning of the substation, which feeds a number of production wells with electricity.
This attack has caused heavy losses to the plant, creating a deficit in the production of water, equivalent to over one thousand cubic meters per day which is needed to feed the Hasawna system, located in the Jafara plains.
