The Center for International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in Tripoli announced it will organize an international conference entitled “Protection of Archeological Sites and Historical Buildings During and After Armed Conflicts” on the 25th and 26th of April at the Omar Al Mukhtar Conference Hall at the Tripoli International Fair on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites.
The conference aims to shed light on violations against historical monuments and buildings during and after wars, as well as spreading legal awareness among members of society regarding the protection of antiquities, and motivating national institutions and international organizations to play their role in the protection of these monuments and historical buildings as well as alerting higher authorities in the state on the importance of giving priority to the protection and preservation of such historical treasures.
