CEO of Italy's Eni, Claudio Descalzi said Tuesday that the situation in Libya is not so good and could be described as a "chronic disease”, as he put it.

Speaking at a forum organized by the official Italian news agency ANSA, Descalzi emphasized that it is necessary to find a solution to the crisis in Libya.

"If Libya suffers, the entire southern Mediterranean region will suffer, and obviously, Europe as well," he explained.

"We need to sit down and talk and take a long-term view," he added.
