The Director of the Information Office at the Food and Drug Control Center, Mohammed Al-Zayat, said on Sunday, that some traders tried to unload a shipment of wheat of Indian origin, estimated at 34,850 tons, with forged documents.

Al-Zayat stressed that the supplier of the shipment claimed that it was of Ukrainian origin, noting that after tracking the movement of the ship, it became clear that it headed to several ports in an attempt to unload its shipment before it reached Libya.

He also explained that after communicating with some of the ports that the ship passed through, including Turkey, Algeria, Palestine and Lebanon, they confirmed that they refused the shipment because it did not comply with the required health requirements, and its documents were tampered with, referring to some traders “trying to manipulate and bring it into Libya.”
