In the wake of a contaminated fuel crisis, Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Aoun said the issue was limited in scope at some stations.

The Public Prosecutor opened an investigation into the crisis, and the ministry is awaiting the results to take the appropriate measures, minister Aoun said in a statement published by the Hakomitna platform.

He urged patience and not to act in haste until completing the inquest. The crisis left many car owners with heavy repair bills.

Several affected customers took to social media to share their experiences as they siphoned fuel from their tanks, which appeared to lack the clearness and brightness required in good gasoline.

In response, the Brega Oil Marketing Company denied that the fuel was mixed with water as reported, insisting that the gasoline received from oil tankers or company warehouses was free of impurities or polluting materials.
