This time we are in the beautiful mountain city of Yefren or Yefran. It’s located in western region of Libya, some 132 km to the southwest of Tripoli. It’s the second largest city in Nafousa Mountain. Most of its inhabitants are from the Amazigh.

The city is well-known for its troglodyte caves called (Damoos Houses). It is a beautiful place to visit, comprising several mountains divided by deep valleys and truly magical groves and little jungles and cliffs that give the city its unique edge.

There are also a wonderful collection of stone and mud houses on the hillsides, in addition to a Turkish mosque, a Jewish synagogue and a Roman mausoleum.

We visited a B&B carved into the mountainside, a full guided tour of an old traditional olive press, an interesting tour of a synagogue and some ancient Roman ruins. Yefren is another gem on the Libyan map and we hope you enjoy and share to those who might have never seen this Libyan city in all her glory.
