Walad Suleiman, a major southern Libyan tribe, has decided to disown anyone from the tribe once they commit a crime, urging the tribesmen to renounce violence being the main cause of Libya’s instability.

The Shura council of the tribe in Sabha reaffirmed on Saturday that anyone who murders innocents, jeopardizes civilians’ lives, destroys public institutions, or works as a highwayman would be instantly disowned.

The Fatwa House has accordingly welcomed the decision in a statement yesterday describing it as an initiative for the sake of peace and social security. The FH urged all Libyan tribes to take Walad Suleiman tribe as a good role model and to sign a document issued by the House in 2013 that obliges them to disown crimes perpetrators.
