Human smuggling is forbidden in Islam, a Fatwa released by the Fatwa House on Monday stated.
In response to a question sent to the House about illegal immigration, the FH pointed out that smuggling immigrants has many negative consequences that cause severe damage to the people's life and the whole country.
“The illegal immigration phenomenon is no more than a death trade that strips off the immigrants their money and then throws them into the ocean to meet their decisive death, all of which is violation of Islamic teachings.” The Fatwa House expressed.
It went on to add that this inhumane act is chiefly practiced by the murderers, burglars, and robbers who know, yet ignore the fact that such a deed can be a reason behind the death of an innocent person, let alone the money earned by the smugglers that is in fact utterly illegitimate “Haram” being an act of unrighteousness.
The Fatwa House has also indicated that this phenomenon jeopardizes the security of the whole country since Libya has become the stepping-stone to illegal immigration used by a considerable number of people all over the world, Africa in particular, which would heavily burdens the county’s economy, healthcare, and security, thus calling on Libyans to denounce it.
“The illegal immigration to Europe via Libya could cause unrest to Libya in the shape of being sanctioned by European countries, which at this stage can no longer endure the growing numbers of immigrants.” It concluded.
