Security Forces in Al-Jufra, central Libya, have arrested 600 illegal immigrants of African nationalities from Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia, some of whom have infectious diseases.

Al-Jufra security sources told Libyan News Agency (LANA) that the immigrants, men, women and children, were in various places inside the city- 480 were captured in a farm in Waddan town, other 170 were arrested in Zalla checkpoint, and the rest were caught in separate places.

The resources also clarified that there are currently more than one thousand illegal immigrants in Al-Jufra, some with contagious diseases, which poses an eminent threat to the health of the local residents. Hence, due to the unavailability of the needed equipment that allows the city to shelter those immigrants and yet provide them with medical care and nutrition, the security forces decided to preserve them inside a farm.
