On Wednesday, Tunisian protesters blocked the road that links Ben Gardane city in Tunisia with the Libyan border via the road known as the National Road 1 using burning tires and rocks.

Media outlets reported eyewitnesses as saying that the protesters blocked the eastern entrance of Ben Gardane city at Al-Maghreb Al-Arabi roundabout, pointing out that they threw stones at the Libyan cars, ambulances, and trucks to oblige them to go back to Ras Ajdair checkpoint.

The protesters said this came as a reaction to the bad treatment that the Tunisian traders from Ben Gardane city had been receiving in Libya. On the other hand, the Libyan authorities justified the strict measures slammed on Tunisian traders because they are doing smuggling work and not a legal one, as they transfer the subsidized goods and fuel to Tunisia where their prices are higher than those in Libya.
