Online applications for e-passports are ready for use, the National Identification Number Project (NINP) has declared.
The NINP said on its Facebook page that a dedicated e-application website will be launched on August 09, while reservations for issuing e-passports will start on August 16.
The application system has been ready since June but its launch was delayed due to technical reasons.
The new online system aims to ease congestion at passport authorities where people now have to queue for long hours in order to get their e-passports. There were also reports of bribes being paid to some passport officers to facilitate passports issuing.
