The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) said Monday on its Facebook page that it had appointed the former local player and current coach of Al-Nasser team, Fawzi Al-Essawi, as the new coach for the Libyan national team.

LFF added in its statement that it had appointed the coach of Abu Salim team, Abu Bakir Bani as an assistant coach for the national soccer team.

The two new names replaced Omar Al-Meryami and his assistant Nasser Belhaj.

The new men will be leading Libya through the next AFCON qualifier against Seychelles on November 14 as part of the fifth round of Group E matches.

Libya is left with no other choice but to win the next match so that it boosts its chances, hoping a draw or a lost comes out for South Africa in Nigeria's game so that it plays very well later to snap the second qualifying ticket from Bafana Bafana and go to Cameroon with Nigeria.

Sources said Tuesday that the LFF is considering also replacing the general manager of the Libyan team, Adel Al-Khomsi, with Salim Sola.

The current management of the Libyan national team has been under bitter criticism for losing two respective matches to Nigeria (0-4 and 2-3) this month.

Libya is now third of Group E with four points and needs two wins in the coming two matches against Seychelles and South Africa to qualify for AFCON 2019.
