Libya lost 1-2 to South Africa on Sunday at Taieb Mahiri Stadium in Tunisia's Sfax city as part of the final round of Group 5 for qualifying to AFCON 2019, which will be hosted by Egypt this summer.

The Libyan team had to win to qualify for AFCON 2019, however; Bafana Bafana's Percy Tau managed to score the first goal at the minute 50 and shake things up.

Over 15 minutes later, at the minute 65, Libya's Ahmed Bin Ali converted a penalty into an equalizer to keep hopes up for all the Libyans fans who were on the edge throughout the game.

However, Percy Tau had another say as he scored his and his team's second goal three minutes after the penalty and gave South Africa the final ticket of the group to Cairo.

Libya thus continues to lose the chance to play at the AFCON competition as its last appearance was in 2012.

Libyan fans were very hopeful for a victory they traveled lots of kilometers for and given the Libyan 0-0 first half performance, they had some hopes, but the second half showed lack of confidence and abilities on the Libyan side.

The victory was secured by Bafana Bafana despite the last 10 minute offensive by the Libyan team, which was opposed by fierce defense and skillful performance and keeping by the South African goalkeeper Darren Keet.
