Football clubs in the western and central regions of Libya have taken a decision to suspend its activities and submit a formal request to cancel the Libyan Premier League.

The clubs announced on Wednesday their refusal to go on with the Libyan Premier League amid the aggression launched by what they say "war criminal" Khalifa Haftar on Tripoli, which spread death, destruction, and displacement, according to their statement.

"All sports activities at both domestic and international levels will be frozen", the clubs stressed, calling for the meeting of the General Committee to present the FIFA a message on this regard.

"There will be no form of participation or contribution to any sporting activity that does not take into account the security of the homeland and people," the statement reads, expressing surprise at the voices calling for the resumption of the league amid such situations the country is going through.

The clubs also denounced the position of the Football Association members and accused them of only being interested in keeping their posts, according to the statement.
