Al-Ittihad achieved a deserved victory over its old rival, Al-Ahly Tripoli, in the derby match of the second round of the Libyan Football League at the Tripoli International Stadium on Friday.

Al-Ittihad dominated possession and field position from the start and kept Al-Ahly's defence under pressure throughout the game.

After 40 minutes, the try-scoring deadlock was finally broken by Moaz Issa, who gave his team the lead by a long-distance shot.

In the second half, Al-Ahly tried to correct things and get back their style of play. The coach made some changes in the offensive line, a step which proved to be fruitful and gave Al-Ahly their first and only goal in the match.

In the 71st minute, Tunisian Ali Al-Omari gave Al-Ittihad the wining goal and its 14th victory this season, while Al-Ahly Tripoli received its first loss.
