Al-Ittihad won the Libya Soccer Cup for the seventh time in its history after beating Al-Hilal 2-0 on Monday.

The match, which was delayed more than once, was played in Al-Khumus stadium without spectators. Al-Ittihad, with this win, overcame Al-Ahli Tripoli in the number of Libya Soccer Cups as the latter has six titles.

The two teams tried to finish the match within the 90 minutes, but with several attempts lost, the two teams went to extra time.

Al-Ittihad scored two goals in the first half of the extra time – at the minutes 5 and 14.

After the second goal was scored, there started a state of chaos at the pitch in protest of the validity of the goal, thus leading to the withdrawal of Al-Hilal. The referee then blew the final whistle and Al-Ittihad won the title of Libya Soccer Cup for 20017/20018.

Worth mentioning that gunshots were heard while the match was on at the minute 87, leading to the panicking of players. No clear statement was issued about the cause of the gunshots.
