Al-Ahly Tripoli lost their match against the South African Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup semifinals at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi on Sunday.

The 2015 runners-up Orlando Pirates won by a score of 2-0, thanks to an eighth-minute goal from Innocent Maela and another from Goodman Mosele in the 29th minute of the first half.

Al-Ahly laboured for much of the game, especially in the second half, but the visitor's defence restricted them to a few goal-scoring chances.

The hosts were seeking to achieve positive results on their ground, especially as they await a difficult match in the return leg against the South African giants to secure their passage to the next phase.

The two teams will settle the tie next week Sunday in South Africa.
