To begin a new effort in reviving the spirit and action to improve  the economic, social and environment condition in the accredited country due to unprecedented impacts of pandemic covid 19, in the first quarter of 2022 ( 31 January 2022),  the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tripoli in collaboration  with the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and Libyan Shipping Association organize the One Day Technical Seminar under the purpose of Familiarization of the Indonesian Friendly Fishing Technology for Libyan Fishing Catch Ship Operators, Businessmen and Fishermen.

The Seminar has been successfully organized via Hybrid (offline and online) with the professional  assistance of Mr. Wishnu Utomo, the Indonesian Development Planning Agency,   and Mr. Joko Arie Prasetyo, Coordinator for Cooperation and Public Relations, and Mr. Widodo, from the Semarang Indonesian Centre for Fishing Development Technology under the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

During this seminar, the Indonesian Representative from the Indonesian Development Planning Agency and the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia introduce the friendly applied technology ranging from the technology for the catching in the High Seas and the applied technology for the simple fishermen with its small boat, especially in helping their catch fish capacity and keeping their communication during their activities at seas with the family at home.

The one day seminar run very productively since the Libyan participants who have come from the east and east Libya to the TCCIA office in Tripoli show their sincere attention and enthusiasm with the issues that being presented by all Indonesian stakeholders. Meanwhile, they are also appreciate with the Libyan Academician and Ministry of Marine Affairs who has explained the Libyan effort in protecting the Sea environment and fish species.

Noting the deep interest of the participants toward this Seminar, the Charge d’Affaires  of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tripoli and the Chairman of TCCIA, Mr. Farag Dribel, along with the Libyan Marine officer and the Chairman of National Shipping of Libya, Captain  Riadh Saadi, express their willingness to visit the Centre of Indonesian Fishing Development Technology in Indonesia in the coming times to follow up their intention in deepening their comprehension on the Indonesian Fishing technology.  Furthermore, all Libyan participants feel enjoy with the explanation of the Indonesian experts in telling the operation of the friendly instruments that accompanying their daily activities at Sea.

During the seminar, the speakers from the Libyan Shipping association, Academician and the Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture share their perspective on how important to use the Marine wealth in Libya sustainably. Furthermore they also express their conviction that the activity of fishing is potential asset  to accompany  the income from the oil sectors. They consider that Libya has a huge area of seas and kind of fish and other related species. To respect the asset, they see that  seminar has opened the horizons for all related stakeholders in Libya to respect  sea environment including the crews ship or human resources during doing activity. For that purposes, the Chairman of TCCIA, Mr. Farag Dribel, encourage all related stakeholder to assist all related stakeholder to know friendly technology that protect their noble activity in the Sea in order to get their maximum results for the country and peoples without ignoring the importance of saving the actors and the environment.

In that relations, the Chairman and the participants also highlight about their knowledge on Indonesia maritime. Most of the operators know and respect the advancement technology of Indonesia in Fishing sectors and the ability of crew ships from many sources.

In line with the above statement, during the interviews with many media men (TV and online media) who have also attended and invited on this event, the Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber and the Libyan Panelist emphasize that the sea activity in Libya still under its potential. The Libyan can increase their capacity by working together with internal and international society. 

Meanwhile, the same tone also being expressed by the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tripoli, Mr. Moehammad Amar Ma’ruf. The Charge d’Affaires   and its Embassy team will be very open to bridge further communication between the all related Libyan government and chambers in concretizing their intention to enhance their shipping operators and crews including fishermen  capability and knowledge on Indonesian Fishing Technology. In this regards, the Charge d’Affaires also appreciates the effort from the Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Farag Dribel and team (Mr. Tarek Al Smuai) follow up the recommendation of the seminar  to make focused team in exploring more cooperation and training possibilities in the sector of Development of Fishing Technology and human resources. 

Last but not the least, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tripoli thank the Libyan and Tripoli Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture and the Libyan Association of Shipping to facilitate the Office and the Link for educating their country fellowmen in achieving more appropriate fishing technology and culture. The technology and culture that respects the sea and its environment and its actors.
