The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, said Monday the priority of the Government of National Unity (GNU) is providing good public services to citizens and pave the way for general elections and national reconciliation.

Menfi added, in a speech after the GNU was sworn in at the House of Representatives in Tobruk, that the most important issues such as people's living conditions - electricity and other services - and paving the way for general elections on December 24, 2021 are priority for the GNU.

Menfi said a complete national reconciliation cannot be reached by the end of this year, but hoped the new executive authority would be the starting point of it so Libyans can then go to elections and exercise their democratic rights, adding that the HoR and the executive authority will be handing over power to people at elections so they decide for themselves.

GNU Prime Minister and the rest of ministers were sworn in at the HoR in Tobruk in a session that was attended by the Head of High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, and a number of ambassadors to Libya.
