The UN advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, told Al-Arabiya TV that the roadmap is in effect in Libya and has been devised by Libyans at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, adding it extends to June of this year, giving the institutions six more months to tackle issues hindering the holding of elections.

Williams added that elections is the only way to achieve stability in Libya, adding that the force majeure announced by the High National Elections Commission is a Libyan decision due to issues with some laws regarding certain presidential candidates.

She also said that Libyans expect the House of Representatives to assume its responsibilities at this point, stressing the need for all parties to set a date for holding elections as a priority.

She also said that she has not right to tell the House of Representatives what to and not to do, reiterating that the parliamentary roadmap committee is expected to deliver its report soon.

Williams warned that Libya could enter once again in a period of uncertainty or a third transitional period, saying all institutions lack legitimacy and for them to become legitimate, fair and free elections ate needed.
