The United Nations acting envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) must approve the newly-selected executive authority in 21 days, adding that if the HoR failed to do so, the decision would go to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum members.

In her speech after the election of the Presidential Council members and the Prime Minister, Williams said it would be necessary that the new interim executive authority commit to the date set for general elections and to support the High National Elections Commission.

Williams also pointed out that the new executive authority should help implement the ceasefire agreement points by supporting the 5+5 Joint Military Commission and providing a plan for a comprehensive national reconciliation.

She also expressed happiness at the welcoming reactions of LPDF members who were selected, saying they promised to commit to the roadmap, prioritizing national reconciliation, adding that February 19 will be the final day for the HoR and High Council of State to agree on giving state sovereign positions to different occupants.

Williams also said that the LPDF will have a central role in overseeing the implementation of the new executive authority work, describing as well the economic track developments as promising and saying that the departure of foreign mercenaries from Libya is necessary.

She said the Government of National Accord will remain operational until the new interim government is endorsed after 21 days from now.

"Haftar was represented in LPDF and he voiced support for the ongoing political process." Williams said, when asked about Haftar's stance regarding the new executive authority.

LPDF members elected Friday in Geneva Mohammed Menfi as Head of the new Presidential Council, with Mossa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi as members and Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah as a Prime Minister.
