The UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams met on Saturday, with members from the General Union of Libyan Students (GUSL), ​​in Tripoli.

In a tweet, Williams said she had an inspiring conversation with the union's representatives who briefed her on the work they achieved in recent years, notably its reunification, in addition to the detention of the union's chairman Mohammed Al-Qoublawi.

For their part, the students talked over with the UN Rep. their sufferings due to the unstable situation in the country, saying it had a significant impact on their education, and stressed the importance of holding the elections as soon as possible.

Williams reiterated the UN's strong support to students and youth, underscoring that they must be empowered to work and participate in political life in a safe and secure environment.
