The UN Special Adviser on Libya, Stephani Williams, has reiterated the importance of consensus and inclusivity in the present complex political environment in Libya.

Williams wrote her remarks on Twitter following a meeting with representatives of the Amazigh Supreme Council of Libya, including the mayors of Kabau, Yevren, and Qalaa, in which they expressed their dissatisfaction with the "marginalization of their community" in the political process and within state institutions.

According to the UN Rep., they "called for inclusion in the constitutional process moving forward and highlighted cases of Amazigh who were extra-judicially detained by hybrid security forces and armed groups."

Williams reiterated that the best way forward to meet the demands of the 2.8 million Libyans who registered to vote is through free and credible elections based on a sound constitutional basis and agreed electoral laws.
