The Head of the UN mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, has been holding a series of meetings with municipality mayors from regions across Libya, during which they put forward recommendations and concerns regarding the political process.

The meetings come within the framework of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) process, based on the principles of social and political inclusivity, a statement by the UNSMIL said on Friday.

The mayors called for focusing on the phase preceding the national elections, urging the UN to advocate for an improvement of economic conditions and better provision of services to the Libyan citizens at the municipal level.

For its part, the UN mission praised the contribution made by mayors across Libya, emphasizing it will continue to engage with them throughout the LPDF process.
