The Acting Head of the UNSMIL, Stephanie Williams, discussed with the President of Tunisia Kais Saied Monday the ongoing preparation for the holding of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia, early November, which was welcomed by President Saied.

UNSMIL said in a statement that Williams briefed President Saied on ongoing preparation for the holding of the LPDF and related various consultations.

Williams also expressed her gratitude for Tunisia's continuous support to the UN efforts to an inclusive political solution to ensure peace and stability in Libya and the region.

President Saied reiterated readiness of Tunisia to help Libyans achieve stability through the LPDF, adding that his country's stance remains committed to unity of Libya and rejection of foreign interference, according to a statement by the Tunisian Presidency.

Saied also said the LPDF is part of Tunisia's efforts to achieve a political solution in Libya as it gasps for peaceful settlement for the Libyan entanglement.

Williams said Saturday the LPDF will kick off on October 26 via visual meetings before the start of face-to-face meetings at the beginning of November.
