Preventing conflicts and promoting stability are the broad outlines of a ten-year strategy the United States aims to implement in several countries, including Libya, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken unveiled on Friday.

"The US will work with government, businesses, and civil society partners to build resilience in Haiti, Libya, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, and Coastal West Africa," Blinken wrote on his Twitter account.

Blinken's message was retweeted by the US embassy in Libya.

The embassy also forwarded a tweet by US Ambassador Richard Norland in which he said, "The ten-year US strategy to promote stability in Libya shows a sustained US commitment that goes beyond the short term."

He said the US is working towards Libyan reconciliation and re-unification under an elected government accountable to Libyans.
