Waha Oil Company said it had achieved a historic milestone by operating Wednesday units of the Al-Sarir power plant by the gas produced by Al-Faregh oilfield for the first time in 11 years, saying the second phase will soon commence.

Waha Oil Company said on Facebook that this step raises the current power capacity of 380 megawatts to about 800 as the third turbine was operated and production increased.

The company indicated that this achievement lowers the cost of periodic maintenance and prolongs the life span of Al-Sarir power plant, in addition to cutting costs of diesel fuel usage.

"This achievement was done after were operated the gas factory in the first phase. We are now ready to provide Al-Sarir power plant in full after we have opened the pipelines. Gas has been flowing by 70 million square feet." The company added.
