The United States said it supports the UN-led efforts to create the necessary environment for a permanent ceasefire in Libya and resuming political process, the spokeswoman of the US State Department Morgan Deann Ortagus said on Wednesday.

The statement comes after a meeting for the Head of Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj with US Undersecretary of State David Hill on the sidelines of General Assembly meetings in New York.

Ortagus said Hill hailed the cooperation with the Government of National Accord in different areas, including fighting terrorism and welcomed the efforts of the UN that aim at paving the way for a permanent ceasefire and return to inclusive political process.

She also said that they both agreed on the need to continue economic reforms' implementation, including boosting reinforcing transparency and stabilizing oil production.
