The Counselor of the United States Department of State, Derek Chollet, said he met with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah to reiterate Washington's support for the Government of National Unity in preparation for elections on December 24.

Chollet said he and the US ambassador and special envoy Richard Norland met with Dbeibah to stress US support for the efforts of the Libyan government to achieve stability in politics and economy.

Dbeibah's media office said the meeting was held in Tripoli and covered the latest political developments toward implementing the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum's roadmap as well as challenges facing holding elections in December.

Dbeibah stressed that his government was working toward achieving security for holding elections on time and providing all needed financial support for the High National Elections Commission.
