The US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce has announced the approval of the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland to serve as Honorary President of the Organization, the US Embassy disclosed in a statement on Facebook Sunday.

According to the statement, the US Mission in Libya and the US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce are expected to cooperate in establishing activities aimed at supporting US companies' investments in Libya and to strengthen partnerships between companies in both countries.

The director of the US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce, Debbie Hurst, expressed her appreciation at the ambassador's support and his willingness to contribute to their efforts in promoting development in Libya, pointing to the value that an organization like the US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce could add.

For his part, the US ambassador voiced his desire to work with the US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce and enhance opportunities for US companies to operate in Libya in the energy, electricity, security, and healthcare sectors.

He also expressed his intention to work to promote American business interests and help boost Libya's economic output for the benefit of all Libyans.

The mission of the US-Libyan Chamber of Commerce was set up to facilitate the entry of US companies into the Libyan market, by offering a range of business services to its members and creating an environment in which the US and Libyan entrepreneurs can identify common areas of interest.
