The Embassy of the United States in Libya welcomed the Libyan agreement reached at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), which is to hold national elections on December 24, 2021.

The embassy said in a statement on Monday that the elections will enable all Libyans to exercise their right to elect the country's leadership and to choose its political direction.

It also praised "the sincere and continuous efforts of the LPDF’s participants in their quest for consensus to improve governance and service delivery before these elections”, according to the statement.

The embassy confirmed its support to all responsible Libyan parties, who are participating in the peaceful dialogue to reaffirm Libya's sovereignty, reject foreign intervention, and build a brighter future through a democratic process.

It also congratulated the UN Mission in Libya and its Acting Head, Stephanie Williams, for their support for the Libyan dialogue.
