The ambassador of the United States to Libya Richard Norland said his country is committed to stand by the Libyan people, in their quest for peace, stability and a return to normal life.

These remarks came in a message he posted on the embassy's Facebook page, extending sincere greetings to Libyans for the advent of the new year.

"On this occasion, and in light of the difficult times that many Libyans currently face, my message to you is that
The U.S. Mission’s efforts are centered on this goal, and we stand ready to work with all Libyan leaders and citizens who remain committed to bringing an end to the fighting in Tripoli and support international efforts in achieving a negotiated political solution to the crisis in Libya." Norland remarked.

He added that a lot of work "remains before us, but I’m confident that together, and through the support of the international community," saying Libya will be able to chart a path towards stability and unity.
