UNSMIL said in a statement on Saturday that the Libyan parties partaking in the 5+5 military commission meetings in Geneva couldn't reach an agreement on "bringing living conditions to normal in clashes' zones" despite agreeing on speeding up the return of IDPs to their houses in those zones.

UNSMIL added that the first round ended but the second will be held in Geneva on February 18 as both parties should continue negotiations to reach an agreement on a ceasefire.

It said the two sides support exchange of prisoners and body remains and both confirm that the committee tasked with these operations backs up the 5+5 military commission meetings.

The UNSMIL also said that the two parties of the 5+5 military commission see eye to eye regarding the consolidation of the ceasefire that started on January 12, stressing the need for respecting it and avoiding any kinds of violations.

The UN mission in Libya said it had noted agreement between the two parties on the need to preserve Libya's sovereignty and security of its borders without allowing it to be manipulated by foreign powers.

UNSMIL also indicated that the two parties agreed on halting the influx of non-Libyan fighters into the country and getting the ones who arrived there out, in addition to fighting UN-listed terrorist groups.
