The UN mission has invited members of the Consensus Committee formed by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) in Geneva to attend two virtual meetings with a UN team conducting an independent strategic assessment noting that the first meeting will be Monday, July 12.

The meeting aims to enable the UN delegation to fully understand the work of the LPDF in approving the constitutional basis for elections, the UN mission said.

The UN team will get an insight into the next LPDF steps after the recent fruitless meeting in Geneva, the UNSMIL explains.

According to the UN mission, the second meeting, scheduled next week, will follow up on the deliberations of the PDF in Switzerland. The participants will also seek common grounds and draft a constitutional basis for December. 24 elections before referring it to the LPDF plenary session for consideration.

The UN mission noted that the forthcoming meetings would focus on the unresolved issues of the Legal Committee’s proposal.
