The Head of UNSMIL Ghassan Salame met Saturday in Al-Rajma with Khalifa Haftar and discussed the reasons that led to the war on Tripoli and the consequent humanitarian crisis in the capital.

UNSMIL said on Twitter that Salame and Haftar discussed also ways possible to reach a transition to a political solution in Libya.

UNSMIL also said earlier that Salame met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Eriksen Soreide on the sidelines of Oslo Forum, as part of a series of meetings he held with high-level participants, adding that they discussed the latest developments in Libya and ceasefire efforts.

Haftar said Thursday in an interview with a news website that he would form a government to be located outside Tripoli - in Benghazi or another city - if his forces couldn't enter and control Tripoli.

Haftar added that the government would form a new constitution drafting assembly.

"Al-Sirraj's initiative is valueless and a repetition of Salame's words. Our military operations will continue till the target is achieved." Hafatr, who has bitterly criticized Salame in more than occasion calling him a biased mediator, said.
