The Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ghassan Salame discussed with the Head of the high Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri the developments on the economic and political levels in Libya, UNSMIL said on Twitter.

The UNSMIL deputy head for political affairs, Stephanie Williams was also present at the meeting.

This meeting comes before Salame berries the UN Security Council on Monday about the latest incidents and the ongoing political process in Libya.

Salame and Williams also met on Sunday with a House of Representatives' members delegation from Misrata city and discussed the need for economic reform and better living conditions for all Libyans, UNSMIL said on Twitter.

The new deputy head assumed office Saturday and attended with Salame the opening of EUBAM headquarters in Tripoli in the presence of EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

Salame is scheduled to brief the UN Security Council Monday. His last briefing was on May 21, when he stressed the importance of elections in Libya.

Tomorrow's briefing will be one that follows the recent chaos and conflict at the oil crescent region in Libya.
