The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, met with members of the Presidential Council, Moussa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli, on Saturday.

In a statement, the council said that Bathily briefed the PC members on the outcomes of his meetings with Libyan political parties at home and abroad.

The meeting dealt with the latest developments in Libya and ways to move forward the political process to reach the elections, which results would be exceptional to all parties.

Al-Koni and Al-Lafi emphasized the PC's continued cooperation with Bathily in his mission to achieve stability in Libya, end the transitional stages by holding elections, and make the national reconciliation project a success, noting that the last file has reached later stages as the preparatory forum for reconciliation kicked off December, last year.

For his part, Bathily called on all political parties in Libya to reach the consensus required to achieve the constitutional base needed for elections.

It may be worth noting that the UN envoy met with the PC members Al-Kony and Al-Lafi as the PC Head Mohamed Al-Menfi is attending a forum in Paris on peace and conflict resolution.
