The Acting Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Stephanie Williams met in Cairo with Director of Egyptian Intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel as part of UN efforts to revive political process.
The UNSMIL said in a statement that Williams and Kamel discussed the situation in Libya and ways to deescalate and swiftly resume a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the UN.
"Williams noted Egypt's positive role in dealing with the Berlin conference Outcomes and reaching out to all Libyan parties." The UNSMIL explained.
In Cairo, Williams also met with a delegation from the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) for a brainstorming and exchange of views pertaining the Libyan dialogue and the resumption of an inclusive political process as the only way to reach a comprehensive and final solution to the Libyan crisis.
Meanwhile on Saturday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) called for a full and inclusive political process that will meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
