An Emirati spy has been arrested in Tripoli, Office of the Attorney General declared on Wednesday.

Head of Investigations Bureau at the Office of the Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour said the UAE spy Yousif Saqir Wilayati was arrested by the Libyan Intelligence Agency in Al-Mahari Hotel.

"Wilayati is involved in espionage for a foreign country and he has many contacts with Libyan citizens." Al-Sour added.

Sergeant Wilayati works for the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Dubai according to the initial investigation reports. This is his third visit to Libya.

The UAE authorities had offered, through a foreign mediator, Libyan Intelligence agents who arrested Wilayati a bribe of $10 million for his release but they refused.
