Libyan army forces under the Presidential Council's (PC) command said Sunday dawn it had shot down a UAE-made surveillance drone on Al-Swani frontline in southern Tripoli.

The gunned down drone was seen in photos circulated on social media with "Made in UAE" inscribed on its wings.

The UAE is accused of backing up Khalifa Haftar in his war on Tripoli with the PC being blamed for not calling it out.

Meanwhile, A source at the "Volcano of Rage" Operation said they had combed through the areas they seized on Saturday and that the fierce clashes had come to relative calm, with only intermittent fighting in Ain Zara and Wadi Rabea.

The PC-commanded operation said earlier that its forces had started the offensive phase - the last stage of the battle, to end the presence of Haftar's forces in southern Tripoli.

Major General Ahmed Abu Shahma - commander of field operations room - said coordination among all fighting frontlines began Saturday and the forces had advanced remarkably on different axes.

"Over the last hours, the fighting was very intense but now clam has prevailed with preparations for the next operation underway." Abu Shahma added, saying supplies are coming regularly to frontlines and that the forces are preparing a fiercer attack on Haftar's forces.
