Twitter suspended Thursday Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi's account, 24 hours after it was opened, following Gaddafi's candidacy announced for presidential elections in Libya. The account reached about 27.000 followers before being suspended.

The reasons for the account suspension aren't clear but Twitter usually suspends accounts that violate its policies, which according to experts, include hate speech, fake news and extremism.

Gaddafi submitted his presidential elections candidacy on Sunday in a Sabha High National Elections Commission's center, which led to massive controversial comments and acts, especially in west Libya, where Al-Zawiya, Misrata, Al-Khums and Zliten cities' shut down the polling stations and High National Elections Commission's offices.
