Libyan Defence Minister Salah El-Din Al-Namroush has held discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar, regarding the latest developments in Libya.

This came during a meeting between the two ministers in Istanbul on Saturday, according to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Defence.

"Turkey is closely following the negotiations for a political solution in Libya," the Turkish Defence Ministry quoted Akar as saying, expressing Turkey's willingness to contribute to establishing security and stability in Libya and preserving its political and geographical unity.

Akar also reaffirmed that the Turkish army will continue to provide training, support, and consultancies to "the Libyan brothers."

Libya's Defence Minister arrived on Thursday in Doha in efforts to develop the capabilities of its forces, and with the view to expanding mutual collaboration with various countries.

The Libyan delegation signed during the visit to Qatar a protocol of cooperation in training to support capacity-building of the Libyan army and to benefit from the experience of Qatar in this field, the Libyan Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
