Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Saturday that Khalifa Haftar doesn't want political solutions but military ones to end the Libyan crisis.

In a press conference in Munich, in the presence of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Cavusoglu accused Haftar of violating the ceasefire constantly since January 12, saying Haftar should be stopped so a political solution can be reached, according to Reuters.

Maas said in a separate presser that the European Union was ready to help implement the ceasefire in Libya at the request of Libyan conflict parties and the UN.

Maas added that the foreign ministers of the countries that participated in Berlin conference will meet on Sunday in Munich to find a mechanism for implementing and monitoring the Berlin conference conclusions, especially those pertaining to the arms embargo.

The German Foreign Minister met his US counterpart Mike Pompeo in Munich as well, as both agreed to support the efforts for consolidating the ceasefire in Libya and the return to political process as well as the halt of foreign intervention.

Pompeo said the US supports the sovereignty of Libya and together with Germany, it aims to work against any destabilizing acts in the region, according to a US State Department Spokeswoman statement.
